The only thing I wanted was my energy back
In early January I was down with norovirus. Totally flat out. I couldn't move. The only thing I wanted was my energy back.
There's a saying: “A healthy man wants a thousand things, and a sick man wants only one.”
It became such a visceral realisation. You are the platform on which you experience life. Your health affects your ability to enjoy everything else.
We go out and damage our health trying to attain something, or trying to enjoy life more. What a paradox.
What's the point of going to a Michelin-starred restaurant if you can't taste the food?
I also think about my dad when he was dying in 2024. What would be the point of having money and things if there was no time left to enjoy them?
A note to myself: Jaan hai toh jahaan hai. If there is life, there is a world.
I think it's an obligation for a man to look after his health so he is fit to serve.
No more putting the gym off until tomorrow. No more excuses.
