Let the mind be
My mind is like a calculator. Give it something and it keeps calculating. It can turn almost anything into another thing to think about.
I used to get drawn into arguing with it. These days I am interested in letting it be. A thought can happen. I can notice it. I can choose where I put my attention.
Krishnamurti said, “I don’t mind what happens.” That line stays with me. Acceptance and surrender have become powerful ideas in my own life.
I like going to raves too. Drums, lights, people dancing. There is something very human about it to me. I am interested in those moments when I stop being so occupied with the commentary in my head.
Sometimes I use particle and wave as a picture. My attention fixes on a thought, and suddenly I am following that whole story. Then there is the possibility of being aware of a wider experience. It is a metaphor I use for my attention.
Non-duality has been my choice of drug, if you like. Alan Watts, Sadhguru, Ramana Maharshi and others have given me a lot to explore. I enjoy engaging my mind with these questions.
I have no fixed answer. I can accept what is happening and still take the next action. I keep coming back to that.
