Service and the mystery

One thing that works for me is service. Find something that feels uniquely yours, keep pursuing it and make it useful to other people. That is the direction I keep coming back to.

Naval's thoughts on authenticity resonate with me. What is uniquely mine to do? What would I keep doing because it interests me?

A thought I took from listening to Guy Ritchie is that the hero's journey can be an internal battle. You go out, experience the world and come back to questions about yourself.

Who am I, underneath the story I keep telling? I find that difficult to define. I think of the ego as a projection made from stories, thoughts and feelings. The idea of witnessing appeals to me: observe the voice in my head and consider how to respond.

My ego can be difficult to see. My intellect can produce very rational arguments to protect the story I tell about myself. I want to notice when that is happening.

Service feels close to how I understand dharma. Keep exploring what is yours to do and how it can help others.

I don't have one answer or a final conclusion. Life and the experience of it remain a mystery to me. I like involving myself in it. I keep finding things I hadn't seen before.
