We fear artificial intelligence. How much do we question human judgement?

We’re worried about how powerful AI might become. I keep wondering how much attention we give to developing our own ability to think.

Humanity keeps growing. So does the power available to us. Are we becoming better at questioning our beliefs, recognising our biases and understanding the consequences of what we do?

A human being can be completely convinced and completely wrong. Give that person power, followers or technology, and the consequences can reach far beyond them.

We ask how to make AI safe. Where is the same urgency about developing human judgement?

I don’t have a fixed answer. But I think the question deserves more attention.
